About GoCarverGo

Our vision for Active Living in Carver County is that all residents, no matter age or ability, will have access to opportunities to engage in daily physical activity and healthy lifestyles. GoCarverGo was initiated by Carver County Public Health & Environment and further developed through collaborative planning efforts with multiple County Divisions and City Planners. In 2008, GoCarverGo was created as part of Carver County's Active Living Initiative and was originally funded by Prevention Minnesota, a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota initiative. In 2010, further support was provided by the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP), which is an integral part of Minnesota's nation-leading 2008 health reform law, and strives to help Minnesotans lead longer, healthier lives by preventing the chronic disease risk factors of tobacco use and exposure, poor nutrition and physical inactivity. SHIP seeks to create sustainable, systemic changes in schools, worksites, communities and health care organizations that make it easier for Minnesotans to incorporate healthy behaviors into their daily lives.
